It’s Hot

Monday, July 31st, 2006

So apparently the temperature outside is 34 degrees celsius.

I know this because I just dropped an egg onto the sidewalk and ate it two minutes later.

Oh, and timtutsch.ca seems to think that Muskoka is the best place to go in the summer. Someone needs to tell that man that he is living in a dream world.

Go to Haliburton. More fun. Less Tutsch.

Another Athletic Accomplishment Deflated

I think the best way to describe my reaction to today’s news about Tour de France Winner Floyd Landis testing positive for banned substances is to do it in pictures…

Floyd Landis meet Barry Bonds.

Two great American athletes.

Smartest Man On Earth?

Is there really any other way to measure brilliance than by your success at Jeopardy?

For those of you who don’t know who Ken Jennings is, he’s the man who won Jeopardy 74 times in a row, which is currently the record.

He’s got some pretty sharp words for the show and for Alex Trebek posted here. He basically rips on the show for not changing with the times. Good read from the world’s smartest man…

The Eagle Has Flown South

Is this turning into a shoddy version of TSN’s Trade Deadline Coverage?

Ed Belfour signed a one year contract with the Panthers.

He had some great years with Toronto. I remember a couple of the playoff runs quite fondly. But, as with all players in Toronto, if you can’t get us that Stanley Cup that we need then it’s time to move on.

All in all I would say that Andrew Raycroft is a great replacement for Eddie.

Robert Randolph at Bonnaroo

The world is a better place because of Robert Randolph.

And YouTube makes it all accessible…

More Reviews from Tuesday…

Good perspective here, with some short videos.

YouTube with other videos.

And looking around here’s a video from Jay Z’s appearance with Phish.

Team Jolie 2-1

Friday, July 21st, 2006

After a magnificent start to the season Team Jolie is now showing a 2-1 record.

I’m thinking we’re gonna need to Zidane the next team that we play to get us to the next level.

That and defence.

Trey and Mike show Tuesday night…

Wednesday, July 19th, 2006

Absoloutely Brilliant!

Quite possibly the greatest show that I have seen in a while.

It’s nice to see that Trey is back in phine phorm. Ever since the breakup he just hasn’t sounded the same. Getting all of that other musical energy out of his system is something that he has had to do over the past two years.

At Bonnaroo last year he played a midnight set with his band 70 Volt Parade. I’m a phan and I will tell you that performance blew chunks. Myself, along with thousands of others were visibly upset with what he had come up with in the post-Phish world. But Tuesday night was different…

Opening up with “Sand” and laying his guitars over top of that sick bassline from Mike was enough to assure myself and everyone else in the Hummingbird Centre that their musical endeavors haven’t gone way off into left field. Find the setlist here.

The rest of the show was just absoloute enjoyment. Some tasty jams thrown in throughout. A little Who and Guess Who covers certainly added to it.

The show should be up pretty soon on the various Torrent/Archive sites. I highly recommend getting it.

Here is someone else’s take on the night…

Mike Peca Is Now A Maple Leaf

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

Eric Lindros is not.

Looks like the Leafs signed Peca to a 1 year $2.5 million deal.

Even though he had an amazing post season with the Oil, his regular season was not the greatest. And the Leafs first need a better regular season to even make it into the playoffs…

Lindros is now in Dallas. Can’t say that I’m too sad about this. Actually I can’t say that I’m too excited/disappointed about either move.

We still need a quality winger for Sundin. Oh, and trade Antropov.

Tonight…

Finally it has arrived!

Trey, Mike and the Duo are performing at the Hummingbird tonight.

Summer is always better with a good concert, except that this one is inside…

Will be interesting to see if there’s a lot scene tonight before the show.

Fluffhead!!!
